Ben Kraucevs

Ben is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt who has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 10 years. Ben is dedicated to educating our kids so much that he is in fact responsible for developing our current training syllabus in which we teach our kids. Always wanting to educate himself with the purpose of passing on knowledge to the kids in our Academy you simply won’t find anyone who is more invested in your childrens’ development than Ben.

Marcus McKeever

Marcus is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Black Belt and Professional Mixed Martial Artist (MMA). Marcus has been competing in combat sports for over 20 years, starting his martial arts journey in boxing before moving on to Catch Wrestling, BJJ and MMA. Marcus is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under MMA and BJJ Pioneer Chris “The Westside Strangler” Brennan. Marcus has a style of coaching that reflects his deep understanding of martial arts so he has the ability to teach you the concepts rather than just demonstrating techniques. It is for this reason that he is a sought after coach and training partner to many top level professional fighters in WA. Marcus is always invested in students’ growth, whether he’s teaching fundamentals to White Belts, coaching a class of 4 year olds, or passing on his knowledge and helping prepare athletes for competition.

Melanie Collard

Melanie is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt, Competitor and Coach. Having started her journey at 38 years young, most would have thought it too late, however Mel has exceeded her own expectations by becoming not only an amazing practitioner and competitor but also an amazing instructor. Mel is the epitome of “it’s never too late to start your journey”. Although a vicious competitor, she is also a nurturing coach and is a crowd favorite amongst both kids and adults. A truly humble yet inspiring women, Your kids are in safe yet capable hands when Mel is on the mat.

Jesse Ukich

Jesse is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and professional Mixed Martial Arts Competitor. Jesse is one of the new breed of Martial Artists, not specialising in one art at a time but working equally hard on his development in all aspects of Combat Sports. Jesse has competed and won in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts competitions and continues to learn his craft in a humble and hard working manner.

Laurence Whitesmith

Laurence is a current professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt. Laurence is another of the new breed of Mixed Martial Artists, with well-rounded skills and knowledge in all aspects of Martial Arts. Already competing and coaching for a number of years, although young, Lozza brings a wealth of experience. Like all our coaches, Laurence continues to evolve as a Martial Artist, ensuring that you’re always going to evolve whilst learning from him.

Katie Kazcan

Katie is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and one of our many Gi BJJ Coaches in the Academy. Katie is an amazing practitioner and competitor and also partner to our equally amazing Kids BJJ Coach Ben. Katie lives and breaths BJJ and is one of our Kids Instructors as well as a regular in our Adults Gi Classes where she also helps newcomers.

Dave Norton

Dave is a qualified and highly experienced coach with over 30 years experience in S&C. Dave has worked with Peel Thunder in recent years as well as assisting rookie AFL players with their combine testing. Dave has also been practicing Martial Arts for over 30 years and like many started off in more traditional Martial Arts and is a Black Belt 2nd Dan in Shu Ho traditional Jujitsu and later took up BJJ and is currently a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Still highly active on the mat, his longevity is a testament to the knowledge he has in this field.

Jeff Bright

Jeff is one of MCSA’s striking coaches, with over 15 years of experience in Muay Thai as both a competitor and coach. Jeff began his athletic career as a professional soccer player, where he played professionally, including two seasons for Perth Glory, and accumulated 275 senior games with Mandurah City Soccer Club. An avid believer in conditioning, his dedication to fitness led him to begin training Muay Thai, where he embarked on a competitive career, competing and training in both Australia and Thailand, whilst also moving abroad in 2000 and opening one of the first Muay Thai Gyms in Mexico. Jeff is one of the most dedicated athletes and is always looking to improve his coaching skills by attending other striking coaches’ classes, leaving his ego at the door whilst maintaining a very high standard of coaching. Jeff loves to help both beginners and advanced and you can guarantee that whether he’s showing a complete beginner footwork drills, or holding pads for some of our fighters, you’re going to get 100 percent commitment from him.

Aaron Robinson

Aaron is a Professional Mixed Martial Artist and a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Aaron, originally from Liverpool, UK, is one of the most experienced coaches in Australia and UK. Aaron has been competing and coaching in Martial Arts since his early teens and was already fighting as a professional at age 20. He has fought on many international promotions such as Brave and ACB and is also one of the founders and original coaches of Aspire Combat Sports Academy in Liverpool, UK, alongside PFL Fighter Dean Garnett and Top-Level Coach and BJJ Black Belt Phil Turner. Aaron has been involved as a coach to many world class fighters including undefeated flyweight Phenom and world champion Muhammad Mokaev, UFC Fighter Danny “Hot Chocolate” Roberts, Former UFC fighter and 3-time Cage Warriors world champion Chris Fishgold and many more. Aaron has been working in fight gyms since he was 15 and understands how to coach people from the ground up.

Wil Stinson

Wil is a BJJ Brown Belt competitor, coach and self proclaimed fight sports nerd. If there is an exciting fight, or a great instructional available, you can be sure Wil has studied it and is bringing the techniques into the gym for everyone to learn. Wil brings a practical blend of judo, wrestling and BJJ to his classes, with a strong emphasis on winning and keeping top position, perfect for competition BJJ and MMA.

Megan Ratcliff-Buckley

Originally from Manchester (UK), Megan is an experienced Strength and Conditioning Coach with 5 years of professional experience working across a diverse range of athletes. She has supported individuals from youth to adult, male and female, and from amateur to elite levels, including athletes who have represented their countries on the international stage. Megan has worked in a variety of training environments, supporting both team and individual sports in preparation for competitive seasons. She has also gained valuable experience working with athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities, tailoring training programs to meet their specific needs. Throughout her career, Megan has worked within a range of sports organisations, including Salford City FC, England Amputee Football, Burnley FC, and Curtin Rugby. During her master’s degree, she focused on Strength and Conditioning for MMA athletes, which sparked her passion for the sport due to its complexity and demanding nature. Since relocating to Western Australia, Megan has continued to pursue her love for MMA and its unique athletic challenges. With a deep passion for helping athletes achieve their peak performance while minimising the risk of injury, Megan is dedicated to empowering athletes to reach their full potential.
